"The betrayal of trust set forth here is outrageous. The scale of corruption alleged herein is unconscionable. And the message from this announcement should be clear to every culpable individual who remains in the shadows, hoping to evade our investigation: You will not wait us out. You will not escape our focus," stated Loretta E. Lynch, the Attorney General of the United States, in Washington DC (United States), on 03/12/2015.

"A 92-count superseding indictment was unsealed earlier today in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, charging an additional 16 defendants with racketeering, wire fraud and money laundering conspiracies, among other offenses, in connection with their participation in a 24-year scheme to enrich themselves through the corruption of international soccer," stated the US Department of Justice on 03/12/2015. The 16 accused persons have all held positions in CONMEBOL and CONCACAF; nine in the South American Confederation and seven in the Confederation of North America, Central and Caribbean.
