FIFA: Juan Angel Napout, president of CONMEBOL, agrees to be extradited from Switzerland to the USA

"Juan Angel Napout, president of CONMEBOL and FIFA vice-president, has agreed to be extradited to the USA. The Swiss Federal Office of Justice (FOJ) was therefore able to approve his extradition immediately in a simplified procedure," announced the FOJ on 08/12/2015.

The Paraguayan Juan Angel Napout, president of CONMEBOL was arrested in Zurich (SUI) and detained for extradition to the United States on 03/12/2015. He was charged on the same day by the Justice Department of the United States. Juan Angel Napout is suspected, along with 15 others indicted on 03/12/2015, of racketeering, financial fraud and money laundering. "The US Attorneys Office for the Eastern District of New York accuses him of accepting bribes totalling millions of dollars in connection with the sale to various sports marketing firms of marketing rights to football tournaments in Latin America," said the FOJ.
