Stadion Amsterdam NV, the company that operates the Amsterdam ArenA (53,000 seats) in the Netherlands, launched an international competition calling for entrepreneurs to design the future stadium on 06/12/2015.

This contest is launched as part of the renovation plan for the home stadium of AFC Ajax (Eredivisie), which will host matches of Euro 2020. Work will begin in the first quarter 2016 with the cost is estimated to be €50m. New dining options and more elevators, escalators and toilets will be central to the project. "Rather than increasing the seating capacity, the objective of the project is to improve the level of service, quality and sustainability," said Stadion Amsterdam NV.

Entrepreneurs participating in the contest will propose solutions to reduce the queues at sales outlets, allow optimal safety, waste reduction, provide healthy food choices and connect spectators and fans online. The best innovations will be tested and implemented in the stadium, with the help of the City of Amsterdam and several partners (Microsoft, Huawei, KPMG, and more).
