France: Champions League final in 2016, 2017 and 2018 to be broadcast on the free-TV channel D8

D8 has acquired the free-TV broadcasting rights, in France, for the final of the Champions League from 2016-2018 , announced the free DTT channel owned by the Canal+ group, on 09/12/2015.

The channel D8 acquired the rights from the pay-TV group beIN Sports, who held the free-TV and pay-TV broadcast rights in France for the final of the Champions League during the 2015-2018 cycle.

The amount of the acquisition is €3m per edition. The final of the Champions League is on the list of sporting events considered of major importance in France, and therefore must be broadcast by an "open access television service". beIN Sports will co-broadcast broadcast the finals from 2016-2018.
