FIFA: "We need a change of culture from top to bottom" (Issa Hayatou)

"Last week, the FIFA Executive Committee approved reforms that will help to lay the foundations for a new way of managing football globally (...) but it will take more than a vote on reforms to fix the problems we have faced. It will take a change of culture from top to bottom," said Issa Hayatou, acting president of FIFA, in the FIFA Weekly magazine, on 11/12/2015.

The separation of political and management positions within FIFA was one of the principle elements of measures presented by the FIFA 2016 Reform Committee and adopted by the FIFA Executive Committee at their meeting in Zurich (SUI) on 02 and 03/12/2015. The FIFA 2016 Reform Committee proposed in particular the replacement of the current FIFA Executive Committee (25 members) with a "FIFA Council" of 36 members.

"At the same time, we saw the authorities acting as part of their investigations into wrongdoing in football. FIFA remains in full support of these actions," added Issa Hayatou, in his column on 11/12/2015, entitled "Changing culture through reform".
