Spain: Mobinil, the Egyptian telecom operator, becomes a regional partner of LaLiga

Mobinil, the Egyptian telecom operator owned by the Orange group, has become a regional partner of LaLiga, announced the Spanish League on 15/12/2015.

Mobinil are entitled to exclusive content of the Spanish championships (Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante) which it can distribute to its clients in Egypt via its 1111 service. This is the first telecommunications partnership of the Spanish League outside of Spain.

LaLiga generated €35m in sponsorship revenue during the 2013-14 season, an increase of 15% compared to 2012-13.

  • "Our desire is to have a global title sponsor for LaLiga" stated Javier Tebas, president of the Spanish League, who indicated that three international companies had emerged as potential partners, following the announcement of the withdrawal of BBVA on 14/10/2015.
  • The annual amount paid by the bank is estimated at €23.5m for the naming contract of the first two Spanish divisions.
