LaLiga: Raúl Gonzalez named the new country manager of the league in the United States

The former Spanish international Raúl Gonzalez has been named the country manager for LaLiga in the United States, the Spanish league announced at a press conference held at the offices of beIN Sports USA in Miami (Florida, USA) on 28/12/2015.

"LaLiga’s brand has grown in recent years, I will be supported by a great team both in the United States and in Spain, and we are prepared to grow and continue to expand LaLiga’s brand around the world," stated Raúl, who played his final game as a professional footballer on 15/11/2015 for the New York Cosmos (NASL).

According to LaLiga, Raúl's duties will include coordinating with broadcasters and TV stakeholders, sponsorship, working with football centres (including academies and coaches) in the US, and managing piracy issues. The long-time Real Madrid CF (Liga BBVA) striker should be based at the offices of the league in New York City. LaLiga also has offices outside of Spain in Beijing (China), Johannesburg (South Africa) and Dubai (UAE).
