FIFA: if the reforms are adopted, "FIFA Council" to replace the Executive Committee on 27/04/2016

"In accordance with art. 29 of the current edition of the FIFA Statutes, 'decisions passed by the Congress shall come into effect for the members sixty [60] days after the close of the Congress, unless the Congress fixes another date for a decision to take effect'," stated FIFA in a document published on 23/12/2015 which presents the reforms that will be submitted to the Extraordinary FIFA Congress on 26/02/2016. A new "FIFA Council" should replace the Executive Committee on 27/04/2016.

The FIFA Executive Committee approved the report from the FIFA 2016 Reform Committee on 03/12/2015. The report, which must also be approved by the FIFA Congress, includes the installation, in lieu of the Executive Committee, a Council of 36 members (including at least six women) with a president who will be the "ambassador" of FIFA. The secretary general will be responsible for implementing the policies defined by the Council.
