Manchester City FC (Barclays Premier League) have presented the new club badge during the match against Sunderland AFC (4-1, Matchday 18 of the Premier League), on 26/12/2015. The teams of the club will continue to wear the current badge until the end of 2015-16 season, before the official launch of the new version for the 2016-17 season.

Manchester City had launched a consultation with its fans (via online platforms and at the Etihad Stadium), since 16/10/2015, to determine if the club would change its current badge, in use since 1997. A large majority of fans (66%) voted for a change.

Billed as "modern and authentic," the new badge takes the round shape which the club had formerly abandoned. It includes three symbols acclaimed by fans via the online questionnaire: the Manchester Ship Canal (represented by a boat), the three rivers that cross the city (Irwell, Medlock and Irk) and a red rose. The year of incorporation of the club (1894) also appears for the first time in the badge.
