Chile: Arturo Salah succeeds Sergio Jadue as president of the Federation and the League

Former professional footballer and national team coach Arturo Salah (66 years old) has been elected president of the FFC, the Chilean Federation, and the ANFP, the Chilean Professional Football League, on 04/01/2015. "Arturo Salah gained 28 votes compared to the 16 votes gained by Pablo Milad or 58% of the votes, there were four abstaining votes," stated the Chilean federation.

Arturo Salah, whose term will end in 2019, succeeds Sergio Jadue, who had held the position as head of the two bodies since 2011 before resigning on 18/11/2015 (Jaime Baeza held the role in an interim capacity since that date). Two days later, Sergio Jadue pleaded guilty to the charges made against him by US justice in connection with the case that led to the indictment of 14 people -- including seven FIFA officials arrested in Zurich (SUI), on 27/05/2015, under charges of racketeering, financial fraud, money laundering and corruption -- issued by the Federal Court of Brooklyn (New York, USA), on 20/11/2015.
