Liga BBVA: Zinedine Zidane (FRA) named manager of Real Madrid CF first team

Zinedine Zidane, born on 23/06/1972 in Marseille (FRA), was appointed the manager of Real Madrid CF (Liga BBVA) on 04/01/2016. He succeeds the Spaniard Rafael Benitez as the club's first team manager, who held the position since the beginning of the 2015-16 season.

The long-time Madrid star and former French international -- world champion in 1998 and European champion in 2000 -- was the coach of Castilla, Real's B team, which plays in the Spanish third division, since the beginning of the 2014-15 season.
