Neymar Jr will release his own line of Air Jordan shoes after the FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA) player entered into an agreement with Michael Jordan, the owner of the Air Jordan brand. The limited edition shoes will be available for purchase in September 2016.

The captain of the Brazil national team will become the first ever footballer to feature on a version of Air Jordan shoes, with previous models having exclusively featured NBA basketball players (the "CP3" model for Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers, and the "Fire Red Suede" model for Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks).

The shoe will be released as part of the Air Jordan 5 Low series, however, the model's exact style and colours have not yet been revealed.

  • In 2014, the Jordan Brand footwear line, created in 1988 in partnership with Nike, generated annual sales of $2.6bn (€2.4bn).
