Argentine striker Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona) won the 2015 FIFA Ballon d'Or during a ceremony in Zurich (SUI) on 11/01/2016. He beat Cristiano Ronaldo (POR, Real Madrid CF) and teammate Neymar (BRA, FC Barcelona).

This is a record fifth Ballon d'Or won by Lionel Messi, after the four obtained consecutively in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. The 2015 Ballon d'Or was the 11th won by a FC Barcelona player, which is another record.

"In the history of the club, we have had great players, starting with Laszlo Kubala (HUN, a Barça player from 1951-61) and Luis Suarez (ESP, from 1954 to 1961). Johan Cruyff (NED, from 1973-1978) emerged from oblivion to us as a player and placed us on the European map with the 1992 European Cup title as a coach. With Ronaldinho (BRA, from 2003-2008), we gained a global dimension, but with Lionel Messi (since 2004), we are universal," said Josep Maria Bartomeu, president of FC Barcelona, on 11/01/2016.
