FIFA: Prince Ali angered by deal made between Africa and Asia during the election period

"I am concerned that there has been an attempt to breach electoral rules in the FIFA presidential election. I have written to the FIFA Ad-hoc Electoral Committee informing them of my concerns and asking them to examine the matter," stated Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, FIFA presidential candidate, on 15/01/2016, regarding the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding by CAF on the same day, in Kigali (Rwanda).

This protocol, which aims "strengthen cooperation between the two confederations and provide a framework for competitions and training exchanges", was signed by Issa Hayatou, CAF president and acting president FIFA and Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, AFC president and candidate for the FIFA presidency. "I have always promoted cross-regional understanding, however the timing of this MoU between the AFC and CAF looks like a blatant attempt to engineer a bloc vote," said Ali Bin Al Hussein.
