UEFA: goal-line technology on the agenda of the Executive Committee meeting on 21 and 22/01/2016

The use of goal-line technology in UEFA competitions is among the topics on the agenda of the meeting of the Executive Committee of the European confederation at its headquarters in Nyon (SUI) on 21 and 22/01/2016.

Goal-line technology (which determines whether or not the ball has completely crossed the line) is currently not used in any UEFA competitions. The technology is expected to be introduced during the finals of Euro 2016 in France. The UEFA Executive Committee could also approve its introduction in the 2016-17 editions of the Champions League and Europa League.

A report on the preparations for Euro 2016 and "FIFA matters" are also listed on the agenda of the UEFA Executive Committee meeting. "The meeting will be followed by a gathering of the presidents and secretary generals of UEFA’s 54 member associations on the afternoon of 22/01/2016," said the European body.
