The 20th edition of the FIFA World Cup will be held from 06/12/2014 to 13/07/2014 in Brazil. The event organised by FIFA will bring together 32 national teams for 64 matches.

Brazil, the only South American candidate for organising the competition, was named host on 30/10/2007 by FIFA. The 'rotation of continents' principle meant that the 2014 World Cup had to be in South America.

The list of the twelve cities which will host the 2014 World Cup was made public on 31/05/2009. Stadiums used have a capacity ranging from 41,375 (Arena da Baixada in Curitiba) to 90,000 (Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro), where the final will take place on 13/07/2014.

The draw for the finals will be held on 06/12/2013 in Costa do Sauipe (State of Bahia). Brazil, the host country automatically qualifies for the competition.
