The social network Facebook has launched the "Sports Stadium" application, a second screen app for group messaging between friends, bloggers and celebrities -- as well as statistics and a live game feeds -- on 21/01/2016.

The main feature of the "Sports Stadium" app conveys the live score and the time remaining in a match. Four tabs are available in the app: "Matchup" to follow the action, "Friends" to view messages posted by friends, "Experts" to see the opinions of pundits and bloggers, and "Stats" to see different match data. With this new service, Facebook is trying to compete with Twitter, which is the social network favoured by clubs for live match feeds.

The application, available only in the US, currently only offers this service for American football on iOS. Facebook plans to extend this service to different geographical areas and sports later. The application was launched ahead of the Super Bowl, scheduled on 07/02/2016.
