FIFA: "Unanimous support" of UEFA ExCo and "widespread support" from federations for G. Infantino

"Following the meetings held at the House of European Football in Nyon, we, the members of the [UEFA] Executive Committee, wish to say that we unanimously support the candidacy of Gianni Infantino for the presidency of FIFA. The UEFA member federations also expressed widespread support for Gianni Infantino, and will officially communicate their individual positions in due time in accordance with their internal procedures," stated UEFA, after the meeting of its Executive Committee in Nyon (SUI) and after a meeting with the presidents and general secretaries of the 54 member associations of UEFA, on 22/01/2016.

The UEFA Executive Committee had already announced its unanimous support of Gianni Infantino, the general secretary of the European confederation, at the announcement of his nomination at 26/10/2015, the deadline day to submit candidacies for the FIFA presidency. Several European federations, including the German, Swiss, Portuguese and Icelandic federations, have announced their indivdiual support for Gianni Infantino in recent days.
