Italy: Sky aquires a part of the rights portfolio of Gazzetta TV for just over €0.5m

The pay-TV group Sky Italia has acquired a part of the TV rights portfolio of the Italian free-TV DTT channel Gazzetta TV, according to the economic newspaper Milano Finanza, on 22/01/2015.

Gazzetta TV, which launched on 26/02/2015, will stop broadcasting via DTT in Italy, announced RCS MediaGroup, the owner of the channel, on 21/12/2015. The date of the termination of broadcasting has not yet been announced.

The acquired rights concern the exclusive distribution of the SkyBet Championship, the Capital One Cup and 2018 World Cup qualifiers for the CONMEBOL zone. The amount of the transaction is expected to exceed €500,000.
