FIFA: Sheikh Salman does not rule out an agreement to make Gianni Infantino secretary general

"My relations with Europe are very close. If they want to sit and find a solution then why not? We cannot say no to anything. We will support whatever is good for the organisation. I have worked with Gianni for the past few years. So far there's no agreement and no deal but let's see what happens in the next few days," said Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (Bahrain), AFC president and candidate for the FIFA presidency, on 25/01/2016, in response to a question about the possibility of appointing Gianni Infatino (Switzerland, also running for the FIFA presidency) as secretary general of the international federation if he is elected head of FIFA.

Sheikh Salman, 49 years old, said in his manifesto that if elected FIFA president, he would hold the role of a "non-executive chairman" and would not receive a salary. He also proposed to split FIFA into two separate entities, one (FIFA Football) to manage the sport and competitions, the other (FIFA Business) dealing with commercial and financial activities.
