CONMEBOL: Luis Segura, president of the Argentine Federation, elected into the Executive Committee

The Argentinian Luis Segura was elected as a member of the FIFA Executive Committee during the CONMEBOL Extraordinary Congress in Luque (Paraguay) on 26/01/2016.

Luis Segura (73 years old) has been a member of the Executive Committee of the South American Confederation since August 2014. Since this date he has also been acting president of the Argentine Federation, following the death of Julio Grondona, on 30/07/2014, who had held the position since 1979. New elections are scheduled at the Argentine Federation on 29/06/2016.

Luis Segura replaces the Colombian Luis Bedoya in the FIFA Executive Committee, who resigned from all of his roles in football administration in November 2015. CONMEBOL now has three members in the Executive Committee of the international federation: Alejandro Dominguez (Paraguray, FIFA vice-president), Fernando Sarney (Brazil) and Luis Segura.
