FIFA: members of the CONMEBOL Executive Committee will "vote in block" in favour of Gianni Infantino

"The Executive Committee of the South American Football Confederation has decided to support the candidacy and the programme for the FIFA presidency of Gianni Infantino" announced CONMEBOL on 28/01/2016.

This announcement follows the holding of a CONMEBOL Extraordinary Congress, in Luque (Paraguay), during which the Paraguayan Alejandro Dominguez was elected president of the confederation for four years (2016-2019), on 26/01/2016. "The new Executive Committee expressed its unanimous approval to a block vote for Gianni Infantino," said the South American Confederation.

With its 10 member federations, CONMEBOL represents 4.8% of the 209 federations that will take part in the election of the successor to Joseph Blatter for the FIFA presidency, during the extraordinary congress of the international federation in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016.
