Euro 2016: the final will be broadcast on free-TV in France by M6 and not TF1, on Sunday 10/07/2016

The final of Euro 2016, to be played at the Stade de France (Saint-Denis, north of Paris, 80,000 seats), on Sunday 10/07/2016 at 21:00 CET, will be broadcast in France on the private free-TV channel M6, announced the Groupe M6 on 29/01/2016. TF1 has broadcast the final of every World Cup or a European Football Championship since the Euro 2004 final.

UEFA awarded the broadcasting rights, in the host country France, to Euro 2016 to the pay-TV group beIN Sports France, as well as M6 and TF1, for an estimated €110m in total, on 10/04/2012:

• beIN Sports France acquired the rights to broadcast all the matches of Euro 2016 (51 matches, for an estimated €60m); the pay-TV group will therefore co-broadcast the final.
• TF1 acquired the rights to broadcast 11 matches on free-TV (for an estimated €25m).
• M6 also acquired the rights to broadcast 11 matches on free-TV (for an estimated €25m).

TF1 and M6 had to allocate which 11 matches each channel would broadcast. A draw decided which channel would broadcast the final, according to L'Équipe on 29/01/2016. M6 will broadcast 6 group stage…
