SM Caen: the club sign a 12 year agreement with the City to operate the Stade Michel-d'Ornano

SM Caen (Ligue 1) have signed an occupancy agreement in the public domain with the City of Caen for the operation of the Stade Michel-d'Ornano (21,215 seats) for 12 seasons (from 2016-17 to 2027-28 ), announced the club on 30/01/2016. This agreement comes into force on 01/07/2016. Currently, both parties are bound by a domain concession.

The agreement includes a fixed lease of €300,000 per year, plus a variable portion of up to €600,000 each season. The financial package will enable the City of Caen to save €700,000, as stadium and pitch maintenance will be provided by the club. The municipality has maintained its prerogatives set out under French law, such as accessibility for the disabled. The agreement also includes the first steps towards the installation of a future training centre on the grounds of the Caen stadium.

The new contract allows the club to develop its stadium revenue with, for example, seminars, business conventions or by selling the naming rights of the stadium. "The respect of the men who have preceded us (in this stadium project) is still very important to me…
