NFL: CBS and NBC acquire the TV rights to Thursday night games from 2016-2018 (€41m per game)

The US national free-TV channels CBS and NBC have acquired the 2016-17 and 2017-18 broadcast rights for "Thursday Night Football", NFL regular season games played on Thursday evenings, on 01/02/2016.

CBS and NBC acquired the rights to broadcast 10 Thursday night games (five each) for a combined total estimated at $450m (€412.8m) per season ($45m / €41.3m per game). CBS will broadcast the first five "Thursday Night Football" games of the season, with NBC showing the following five. CBS, the exclusive rights holder of "Thursday Night Football" in 2014-15 and 2015-16, previously paid an estimated $300m (€275.3m) per season for eight games ($37.5m / €34.4m per game).

The pay-TV NFL Network, owned by the league, will co-broadcast the 10 games with CBS and NBC, and will also broadcast an exclusive package of eight additional games, which will include Thursday night games, Saturday night games at the end of the regular season and other games yet to be determined.
