France: Council of State maintains 3 promotions/relegations between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 in 2015-16

The French high court Council of State has rejected the appeal of the LFP against the FFF regarding the number of promotions and relegations between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, and therefore decided to maintain three promotions and relegations between the top three divisions of French football in 2015-16, announced the court on 03/02/2016.

The LFP had filed the appeal after the rejection of the league's first application (in Autumn 2015) for interim measures against the decision of the FFF Executive Committee to annul, on behalf of the "best interests of French football", the vote by the board, in favour of the LFP to limit the number of promotions and relegations to two for the 2015-16 season.

This final legal decision by the Council of State confirms that the 2015-16 season will see three relegations from Ligue 1 to Ligue 2, and three promotions from Ligue 2 into Ligue 1 for the 2016-17 season.
