Russia 2017: Confederations Cup emblem, inspired by the tournament's trophy, is unveiled in Moscow

The emblem of the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia has been unveiled at a ceremony in Moscow (RUS) on 03/02/2016. The ceremony marked 500 days before the start of the competition, scheduled from 17/06 to 02/07/2017.

"The official emblem and look of the tournament were inspired by Russia’s rich culture and storytelling tradition. The shape of the trophy inspired the design of the emblem which is brought to life by the mythological firebird (Slavic mythology), its main character," said Thierry Weil, FIFA marketing director.

Five of the the eight teams (Russia, Germany, Chile, Australia and Mexico) participating in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup are already known, as of 03/02/2016. The competition will take place in four Russian cities:
• Moscow (Otkrytie Arena, 42,929 seats)
• St. Petersburg (New Zenit Arena, 69,881 seats)
• Sochi (Fisht Olympic Stadium, 47,659 seats)
• Kazan (Kazan Arena, 45,105 seats).

The three participants in the Confederations Cup still to be determined will be:

  • The winner of Euro 2016
  • The winner of the 2016 OFC Oceanic Football Confederation
