FIFA: election of the ninth president of the international body in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016

It is at the Extraordinary FIFA Congress held in Zurich (SUI) on Friday 26/02/2016 that the successor to Joseph Blatter (suspended since 08/10/2015) will be elected. The 209 national federations will designate the ninth president of the international federation since its inception 112 years ago, on 21/05/1904 in Paris (France).

The eight predecessors to next FIFA president:
• 1998-2016: Joseph Blatter (Switzerland). (Suspended since 08/10/2015; Issa Hayatou, Cameroon, is the acting president)
• 1974-1998: Joao Havelange (Brazil)
• 1961-1974: Stanley Rous (England)
• 1955-1961: Arthur Drewry (England)
• 1954-1955: Rodolphe Seeldrayers (Belgium)
• 1921-1954: Jules Rimet (France)
• 1906-1918: Daniel Burley Woolfall (England)
• 1904-1906: Robert Guerin (France)

Five candidates were declared eligible by the FIFA Ad-hoc Electoral Committee on 09/11/2015, and confirmed on 26/01/2016:
• Ali Bin Al Hussein (Jordan)
• Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (Bahrain)
• Jérôme Champagne (France)
• Gianni Infantino (Italy-Switzerland)
• Tokyo Sexwale (South Africa)
