UK: Sky plc invests in InCrowd, a fan engagement and activations company

The British pay-TV group Sky plc is investing £300,000 (€390,000) into the British company InCrowd Sports, which specialises in mobile fan engagement and sponsorship activations, on 02/02/2016. Co-founded in 2015 by Aidan Cooney (a former CEO of Opta, Perform Group) and Archie Woodhead (former sponsorship and marketing director at IMG Worldwide), InCrowd Sports develops mobile applications with real-time content, match analysis and interactive games, allowing clubs and rights holders to maximise their engagement with fans.

In addition, InCrowd mobile applications have software to pool and share connectivity for phones using the application instead of competing for access to the connectivity offered by the available networks: a user does not need to be connected to 3G / 4G or Wi-Fi to access an InCrowd mobile app, the more phones that simultaneously use the app, the better it works.
