FIFA: CAF justifies its support of Sheikh Salman by the need for "equilibrium among the continents"

"Considering the need of FIFA to pursue a globalist vision, and remain an institution that guarantees equilibrium among the continents; CAF decides to offer its unanimous support to the candidate Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, current president of the Asian Football Confederation, and a FIFA vice-president," announce CAF at the end of the meeting of its Executive Committee in Kigali (Rwanda) on 05/02/2016.

The CAF and the AFC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which aims to "strengthen cooperation between the two confederations and provide a framework for exchanges on competitions and formation", during a ceremony in Kigali (Rwanda) on 15/01/2016. This protocol, which lasts four years and is renewable, was signed by Issa Hayatou, the CAF president and acting president of FIFA, and Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
