The Premier League presented its new visual identity, designed and imagined by the agencies DesignStudio and Robin Brand Consultants, and which will be used from the 2016-17 season, announced the English top division on 09/02/2016.

"The League has created a bold and vibrant identity that includes a modern take on the lion icon - a symbol that is part of the competition’s heritage," stated the Premier League. This change of logo and visual identity comes as the title sponsorship with the UK bank Barclays expires after the 2015-16 season. The contract with Barclays was estimated at £40m (€55.7m) per season since its extension in 2012. The competition has been officially named the Barclays Premier League since 2004.

"From next season we will move away from title sponsorship and the competition will be known simply as the Premier League, a decision which provided the opportunity to consider how we wanted to present ourselves as an organisation and competition," said Richard Masters, the managing director of the Premier League.
