The ECA hopes "to play an active and constructive role in FIFA's decision-making process moving forward," said the European Club Association, at the end of its 16th General Assembly held in Paris (FRA) on 08 and 02/09/2016.

"FIFA must open its doors to key stakeholders, such as clubs, players and leagues, offering them meaningful and direct involvement when it comes to decisions affecting the professional game," said the ECA on 09/02/2016. Marco Villiger, acting deputy secretary general of FIFA, spoke to the ECA about the reform process currently underway at FIFA.

"Not only finances and the collection of votes during elections should determine FIFA's policy: the interest of the game must be put back into the foreground," said the ECA.

Since September 2015, the ECA has had two representatives on the UEFA Executive Committee: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (GER, chairman of the ECA) and Andrea Agnelli (ITA, vice-chairman of the ECA Executive Committee).
