Kia Motors France announced that it will end its shirt sponsorship with FC Girondins de Bordeaux (Ligue 1) at the end of the 2015-16 season, on 05/02/2016.

The automaker has been the shirt sponsor of the French club since the 2006-07 season. The amount of the contract was estimated at between €2m and €3m per season, before bonuses. "This decision comes after 10 seasons marked by a close and successful collaboration. (...) The French subsidiary of Kia Motors would like to take a new direction with its communication and sponsorship strategy in the French market," said the company. During these 10 years of partnership, Kia was able to benefit from its rights following the various trophies won by the club such as the 2008-9 Ligue 1 title, the 2012-13 Coupe de France and the 2006-07 and 2008-09 Coupe de la Ligue titles. Kia is one of 10 global sponsors of Euro 2016.

Bordeaux generated €9.78m in sponsorship revenues during the 2013-14 season. These revenues have declined consistently since the 2009-10 season (€11.84m).
