"If we go to election there will be losers and maybe sometimes you need to avoid that result," said Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (Bahrain), AFC president and candidate for the presidency of FIFA, on 09/02/2016, in response to a question about possible agreements between candidates before the Extraordinary FIFA Congress of (in Zurich on 26/02/2016) in which the successor to Joseph Blatter at the head of the international federation will be elected.

"We have a clear indication on who will be elected." "We have to be realistic. We know the chances of each candidate. Every day we calculate. I am sure that, of course, it is positive. I hope that Europe looks at it from an organizational point of view, and not an individual, on what is best," said Sheikh Salman in an interview with the US news agency Associated Press on 09/02/2016.

Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has the support of the Executive Committees of the AFC and the CAF. Both full bodies represent a total of 100 federations (54 in Africa and 46 in Asia), or 47.8% of the 209 federations that take part in the election…
