"It is now time to think about new governance structures for the DFB and the German national team. The current status quo is not conceivable in the future," said Wolfgang Holzhäuser, a partner at Goldmedia, the research and consultancy firm specialising in digital business development, on 09/02/2016.

Wolfgang Holzhäuser, former secretary general of the German Federation (1975-1998), vice-president of the DFL (2004-2007) and CEO of TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen (1998-2013), proposed the creation of a subsidiary, 51% owned by the DFB and 49% by the DFL, to manage the German national team.

"This would clarify tax issues. In addition, we would stop the endless discussions on the share of commercial and media revenues of the national team (divided amongst the professional clubs). If this model was put in place, it is obvious that these divisive issues would be resolved," said Wolfgang Holzhäuser to the German newspaper Kölner Express.
