FIFA: having initially favored Gianni Infantino, South Sudan follows CAF in supporting Sheikh Salman

"The SSFA (South Sudan Federation) is committed to following the decision of the Executive Committee of CAF to support Sheikh Salman," said Chabur Goc Alei, president of the Federation of South Sudan, in a letter to CAF on 08/02/2016.

"Chabur Goc Alei did not want there to be any ambiguity and thus confirmed his unconditional support of the decision taken by the Executive Committee of CAF on 05/02/2016 in Kigali (Rwanda)," said CAF, on 09/02/2016. The Executive Committee of CAF announced its support for the candidacy of Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa for the FIFA presidency after its meeting in Kigali on 05/02/2016.

"We are supporting Mr. Gianni Infantino for the FIFA presidency. Any (voter) has the right to choose whoever they want. It is not compulsory for each federation to follow the decision of CAF," said Chabur Goc Alei, on 06/02/2016.

"This is a position that Chabur Goc Alei explained by the fact that no official communication from CAF on the procedure had yet reached the SSFA when this news was made public," said CAF on 09/02/2016.
