FIFA: four presidential candidates meet with CONCACAF, 15 days before the election

Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, Jerome Champagne and Gianni Infantino, four of the five candidates for the presidency of FIFA, participated in a meeting with the member federations of CONCACAF, organised by the confederation of North and Central America and the Caribbean in Miami (Florida, USA) on 11/02/2016. Tokyo Sexwale was the only absentee.

Each of the candidates gave a 20 minute speech before the leaders of 35 CONCACAF federations who are members of FIFA, which represent 16.7% of the 209 federations that will take part in the election of the successor of Joseph Blatter for the presidency of FIFA. The vote will be held during the Extraordinary Congress of the international federation in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016. The media were allowed to attend the speeches.

CONCACAF is one of the two confederations, along with the OFC (11 members), not to have announced their official support of a candidate as of 12/02/2016. The Executive Committees of the CAF (54 members) and the AFC (46 members) support Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, while those of UEFA…
