On the 03/06/2013, David Bernstein, deputy chairman of the FA (Football Association) said he was "confident" that Wembley Stadium would be chosen as a host venue for the semi-final and final of the European Championship in 2020, held in 13 cities across 13 European countries.

"We will put in two bids - one for the semi-final and final, and one for a package of earlier matches which would include England home matches being played at Wembley. The bids will go in alongside one another but we can't get both," said Bernstein.

"I understand Turkey have a good chance of getting the final if they don't get the Olympic Games," he added. Turkey has received the support of Michel Platini, UEFA president.

The host cities of Euro 2020 will be allocated in September 2014. Applications must be confirmed by the 11/09/2013. The host city of the 2020 Olympic Games will be decided four days earlier, on the 07/09/2013.
