FIFA: Jérôme Valcke banned for 12 years by the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee

"The adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee chaired by Mr Hans Joachim Eckert has banned Mr Jérôme Valcke, former secretary general of FIFA, for 12 years from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) on a national and international level. The ban comes into force immediately," announced the international federation on 12/02/2016. Valcke was also fined 100,000 Swiss francs (about €92,000).

The Frenchman Jérôme Valcke had been relieved of his duties as secretary general "with immediate effect and until further notice," by FIFA on 17/09/2015. He was definitively dismissed from his position on 13/01/2016. He was suspended for 90 days from any activity in football by the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee on 08/10/2015. This suspension was then extended by 45 days on 06/01/2016. The investigatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee called for a nine year suspension and a fine of 100,000 Swiss francs (about €92,000) on 06/01/2016.
