"Television should be the place to see events, not just the news, as the channel was originally designed. L'Équipe 21 suffers heavy losses of around €20m annually. At the current rate, the channel will not be profitable for another 20 years," said Cyril Linette, CEO of L'Équipe, on 16/02/2016.

"We therefore have to reorganise the channel with a focus on sporting events," added Cyril Linette, in an interview with Le Figaro. There will soon be a "very significant change in the programme with an emphasis on live events," announced the management of L'Équipe to its employees during a meeting on Monday 15/02/2016.

Cyril Linette wants to "create a unique brand around different medias combined into each other." The Free DTT channel "L'Équipe 21" could also take the name "L'Équipe".
