England's FA has thrown its weight behind Gianni Infantino (SUI) in the FIFA presidential election. At a board meeting on 18/02/2016, the FA decided to follow the endorsement of the English UEFA Executive Committee member and FIFA vice-president, David Gill, with a formal declaration of support for the UEFA general secretary ahead of the FIFA elections in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016.

"We decided that we would back Gianni Infantino. We did what we promised we would, I spoke to every candidate either in person or on the phone. We were impressed by Gianni. We were also impressed by Prince Ali but in the end we decided to go with the UEFA candidate," said Greg Dyke the FA chairman.

FA officials had met with Infantino to discuss his candidacy following the launch of his presidential-campaign manifesto at England's Wembley National Stadium on 01/02/2016.
