Deloitte release Annual Review of Football Finance 2013

On 06/06/2013, financial services firm Deloitte, released their Annual Review of Football Finance. The report found that half the clubs in the Premier League are still making losses despite recent record revenues, with new television revenue expected to add extra pressure on clubs and how much they pay their players.

According to the report, Premier League clubs are spending 70% of total turnover on player salaries. The situation is even worse in the Championship (English second division) with 90% of revenue spent on wages.

The top five English clubs by revenue were Manchester United €376m (£320m), Chelsea €307m (£261m), Arsenal €276m (£235m), Manchester City €272m (£231m), and Liverpool €222m (£189m).
