FIFA: "I know Jérôme Champagne, I worked with him, I can trust him" (Pelé)

"One of the candidates is Jérôme Champagne who worked with me at a time. I know him. I worked with him. I can trust him," said the Brazilian Pelé to the website GloboEsporte.com on 16/02/2016, about the election for the presidency of FIFA, scheduled in Zurich (SUI) on 26/02/2016.

Along with the Frenchman Jérôme Champagne, four other candidates are seeking to replace Joseph Blatter, president since 08/06/1998, but suspended from any activity in football since 08/10/2015: Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein (Jordan), Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (Bahrain), Gianni Infantino (Switzerland) and Tokyo Sexwale (South Africa).

"Pelé and I met for the first time in 1996 when he was the Extraordinary Minister for Sports in Brazil and when I was the n°3 at the French Embassy in Brasilia. Since then, we have been regularly working together during my FIFA years, in particular to support the organisation in Africa of the 1st World Cup and since 2010 as well," said Jérôme Champagne, on 17/02/2016.
