FIFA: Appeal Committee verdict regarding Blatter and Platini expected between 22 and 24/02/2016

The FIFA Appeal Committee is expected to give its verdict regarding the appeals of Joseph Blatter and Michel Platini against their suspension for eight years from any activity in football issued on 21/12/2015, between Monday 22 and Wednesday 24/02/2016, confirmed several sources to News Tank Football on 21/02/2016.

The hearing regarding the appeal of Michel Platini was held at FIFA headquarters on 15/02/2016, with that of Joseph Blatter held on 16/02/2016; each hearing attended by the concerned parties.

Michel Platini, president of UEFA since 26/01/2007, was suspended for eight years for any activity in football by the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee on 21/12/2015. He was found guilty of "conflict of interest" and "mismanagement" because of a controversial payment of 2 million Swiss francs (€1.54m at the time of payment), on 01/02/2011, concerning his role as an advisor to Joseph Blatter, president of FIFA, from 1999 to 2002. Joseph Blatter, FIFA president since 08/06/1998, was also suspended for eight years, on 21/12/2015.
