On 05/06/2013, Bolton Wanderers (ENG, Championship) announced they have dropped plans to be sponsored by pay-day loan company QuickQuid after fans protested against the move.

In a statement, the club said that they had taken the decision after receiving poor "feedback" from fans and having had discussions with "local and national politicians". Supporters who criticised the pay-day loans industry, accusing QuickQuid of exploiting people who need money started a petition that received almost 4,500 signatures.

The club have also announced a two-year sponsorship deal with Bolton-based energy company FibrLec. No financial details of the deal have been disclosed.

At the end of the 2012/13 season in the Football League Championship, Bolton Wanderers finished 7th, just missing out on a play-off place.
