FIFA: 20 questions on the governance reforms to be submitted to the Congress in Zurich on 26/02/2016

The FIFA Congress will convene in Zurich (SUI), on 26/02/2016, in order to decide on a set of reforms including: a president of FIFA that "shall aim to foster a positive image of FIFA and ensure that its missions are protected and advanced," a FIFA Executive Committee replaced by a FIFA Council of 37 members -- including the president -- which will be "supervisory and strategic, setting the vision for FIFA and global football", and a secretary general appointed by the Council who will function as a CEO.

The new Statutes also include limiting the president and FIFA Council members to to a maximum of three terms of office (whether consecutive or not) of four years each, but without retroactive limitations.

To be adopted by the Extraordinary Congress on 26/02/2016, which will be attended by all 209 national federations, the reforms, which were validated by the Executive Committee on 12/03/2015, will require the votes of at least 75% "of the members present and eligible to vote" taking into account the principle of one vote per federation.
