Fox Sports acquire U.S. and Caribbean rights to Euro and World Cup qualifiers (2014-2018)

On 04/06/2013, David Nathanson, executive vice president of Fox Soccer announced that the Fox Sports Media Group had acquired the broadcasting rights for the Euro 2016 and World Cup 2018 qualifiers.

Having negotiated with CAA Eleven, the UEFA-appointed marketing agency, the US rights are exclusive but the Caribbean ones are not.

Fox Sports Group has sold 50% of these rights to ESPN. The two companies will broadcast:
- 129 qualifying matches for Euro 2016 (between September 2014 and November 2015)
- 129 qualifying matches for European teams for the World Cup 2018 (between September 2016 and November 2017)
- 15 international friendlies (the 2014 - 2018 period)

Fox Sports already owns the rights to broadcast the finals of the 2018 World Cup in the United States and the Caribbean, and those of the ESPN finals of Euro 2016 in the Caribbean.

Thus, the rule of ESPN will broadcast the selection qualifiers for Euro 2016. In return, Fox Sports will receive priority over the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup.
