Belgium: Proximus (telecom) becomes the title sponsor of the 2nd Division until 2019-20

The Belgian telecommunications operator (telephone, Internet, TV) Proximus (formerly Belgacom) has concluded an exclusive agreement with the Pro League for broadcasting rights to the D1B -- the new formula for the Belgian Division 2 Championship (eight teams) -- whose name will remain the Proximus League for the 2016-17 to 2019-20 period, the group announced on 19/02/2016.

Proximus has owned the naming rights of the Belgian second division since the 2012-13 season. It was named the Belgacom League until 2013-14. The championship has officially been named the Proximus League since the 2014-15 season. Proximus will unveil the activation plan of this new strategic partnership before the summer of 2016, in addition to the broadcasting rights of the championship already owned by the group. The group also distributes the rights to the first division Jupiler Pro League, whose naming rights, which have been held by the Belgian beer group since 1990, are due to end after the 2015-16 season. The annual amount of that deal is estimated at between €3m and €3.5m.
