France: the 2016 Trophée des Champions will be held in Klagenfurt (Austria), on 06/08/2016

The 2016 edition of the Trophée des Champions (French Super Cup) is scheduled to take place at the Wörthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt (Austria), on 06/08/2016, said the LFP to News Tank Football on 24/02/2016. The date and location of the match between the French League champions and the winner of the Coupe de France (or second in Ligue 1 if the same team wins both competitions) were approved by the board of the League, which met on 24/02/2016. The contract for the event therefore only has to be finalised.

The 2016 Trophée des Champions will be the eighth edition organised abroad: the 2008 match was the last to be held in France. Austria is the first European country to host the match as, since 2009, the Trophée des Champions has been played in North America (Canada, USA), Africa (Tunisia, Morocco, Gabon) and Asia (China).

The kick-off of the match on 06/08/2016 is scheduled for 20:45. The match will be broadcast live on beIN Sports France. The total capacity of the Wörthersee Stadion, which was renovated during Euro 2008, is 32,000 places, however it is currently limited to 12,000…
