Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid CF) has become the first athlete to reach 200 million cumulative fans on the social networks Facebook (109.7 million), Instagram (49.6 million) and Twitter (40.7 million) on 23/02/2016,.

The captain of the Portuguese national team (31 years old) is ahead of Lionel Messi (122 million in total, FC Barcelona), with the Argentine having no official account on Twitter, and the basketball player LeBron James (68.7 million in total, Cleveland Cavaliers). He joins the singers Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift as the only celebrities to surpass the 200 million fans mark across the three social networks in question.

Among his fans, 13.5% live in the USA, 7.4% in France, 6.4% in Brazil, 6.2% in Mexico and 5% in England. In 2015, Ronaldo gained 41.8 million fans, nearly 3/4 of which were on Instagram. This data was compiled by HookIt, an open platform that quantifies and evaluates digital sports communities.
